Project Overview
The project goal is to build a 120 GHz millimeter wave (mm-wave) imaging radar. The system will be based on the Silicon RadarTM line of radar on chip ICs (e.g., TRA_120_045). The project requires designing two subsystems that are integrated into the final product. First subsystem is the design of the RF circuit which contains the radar IC and phased-locked-loop (PLL) circuitry. The second subsystem is the data acquisition and control circuitry which will involve using an FPGA. The FPGA interfaces to ADCs for data collection from the RF circuit and a USB chip to interface to a PC for data transfer. Furthermore, our group will program the FPGA to perform the function needed in generating the signal, performing data acquisition and communicating the data to the PC. Our group will also develop an application on the PC to interface to the FPGA. Upon completion of the hardware and the software, the group will use the system to conduct radar imaging experiments in the microwave lab at CNDE.Team Members
